Heathfield Martyrs Commemoration 2025

On June 21st we commemorated the 468th anniversary of the Heathfeld Martyrs with our annual ceremony. Margery and James Morris, of Cade Street were burnt at the stake in Lewes on June 22nd 1557.

Our thanks are extended to Heathfield Independent Church and the HDBS members who took part. In particular our thanks to Ann, a retired church vicar who took the service, Robin, for playing the last post, and Stella, for the floral wreath which Phil laid on behalf of HDBS members.

We enjoyed our short torchlit walk to the Half Moon Inn, where we were welcomed by our friends from Skull Drummery - The Mighty Tub Thumpers, and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

Thank you to everyone involved.
